Summer calls for additional consideration of the toll ultraviolet (UV) exposure could take on chemical storage tanks. It’s imperative to find solutions that maintain a tank’s structural integrity while preserving the effectiveness of the chemicals inside.
No matter your industry, tanks with prolonged exposure to sunlight risk breaking down, causing chemicals to overheat and expand over time. Such degradation could even result in disposing of the chemicals, ultimately costing your company money.
This summer, think “sunlight protection and temperature control” with Assmann Corporation.
UV-Resistant Materials From the Beginning
We prioritize chemical tank durability from the start which means producing polyethylene tanks built for nature’s toughest seasons.
The summer sun creates harsh conditions for chemical storage tanks by breaking the carbon and hydrogen bonds in polyethylene. This results in a more brittle polymer not suitable for holding chemicals.
While several tank manufacturers believe that polyethylene with black pigment is the answer to a lasting summer storage product, we know that isn’t the case. Instead, we’ve found that the pigment blocks sunlight but gathers an increased amount of heat.
Our tanks are different. We take the extra step to ensure longevity by sourcing polyethylene for our linear and crosslink tanks that already contain a compounded UV stabilizer. The protection helps to prevent the degradation of the plastic.
The more UV protection, the longer your tanks will last.
Quality From the Outside In
From the outside in, we understand the harmful effects sunlight can have on your tank and its contents. We bring the same level of quality work from the outside of our tanks to the inside.
Assmann can install a one- or two-inch barrier of spray foam insulation which adds another layer of UV protection specifically for a tank’s chemicals. The foam also acts as a form of temperature control, maintaining the effectiveness of each tank’s contents.
Our manufacturing mentality of not cutting corners makes all the difference in reducing the impact of sunlight. Assmann tanks have a uniform wall thickness from top to bottom. Additional thickness is added to the dome of the tanks to help with UV penetration.
It’s simple: we want what’s best for you and your company.
