A lot can change over 45 years, but for Assmann Corporation, a few things have always stayed the same: quality manufacturing, durable storage tanks and Data Design Services II.
Shortly after Assmann opened its doors in 1980, it began business with distributor Data Design Services II. The distributor now supports two of Assmann’s largest national accounts while seeking out opportunities in various industries for the corporation’s tanks.
Regardless of each company’s respective growth and emerging industry competition over the years, the partnership is stronger than ever.
“We feel like Assmann is always, and has always, had a family business feel to it even though it’s getting bigger,” said Jim Wood, co-owner of Data Design Services II. “I still feel they have a family atmosphere we have always felt part of.”
With two manufacturing facility locations, in Indiana and Texas, Assmann has continued to provide customer-first service paired with knowledgeable professionals and creative solutions to the industry and their distributors.
As Jim explains, these priorities have set Assmann apart from other vendors and only strengthened the manufacturer-distributor relationship.
“Assmann has always been one to try and put the customer first and look at it from not just the [representative’s] perspective but also the customer’s perspective. And I think that’s always, in our mindset, putting [them] ahead of our competitors,” Wood said.
The family atmosphere is carried into the creative problem solving process when inevitable issues arise. Problems are handled together and through personalized communication.
Data Design Services II utilizes every Assmann expert from the sales team to the individuals generating tank drawings, putting a face to the work being done.
The distributor has interacted with every aspect of the corporation which has furthered the partnership.
“Just being able to have a relationship where you know who to call and who to ask to get things done is really helpful,” Wood said.
Jim and Data Design Services II have experienced the Assmann difference time and time again. The co-owner noted a recent time where Assmann’s dedication to customer service made a particularly large impact.
According to Jim, a customer out of Virginia received a storage tank with an incorrectly placed fitting.
Once the distributor contacted Assmann, the corporation coordinated for an in-the-field expert to arrive and fix the fitting. Assmann’s quick action not only satisfied the customer, but it kept the customer coming back.
“Those are the kinds of things that help us grow our relationships with customers and anytime you have a vendor willing to work with you to do that, it just makes everybody’s jobs a lot easier,” Wood said. “That’s really where Assmann stands out from other vendors, just knowing how important it is to get jobs done on time and get customers happy.”
As the chemical storage landscape shifts, the pair are eyeing potential customers in order to expand, together.
“We’ve been in a good position to be tied into the companies that are really working [in new industries with chemical storage needs], so that’s benefited us as well as Assmann,” Wood said. “We’re growing with Assmann.”
The pair are looking forward to another four decades together as they continue presenting solutions for chemical storage needs.
